1986: After being involved with three
home building projects as a teenager, and after four adult
years as the Facilities Manager at the Norman Rockwell
Museum at Stockbridge, Jerry Kelly starts out as a lone
licensed carpenter with occasional help bent on building
decks, remodeling kitchens, bathrooms and the like. Ann
is raising small children.
1987 through 1990: Continuing in the
same fashion, we build our way up to a small crew, working
out of our home and garage.
1990 through 1993: Expansion is slowly
underway, based on satisfied customers in past years. Volume
of business has now increased ten-fold since the first
year.
1993 through 1996: The Company moves
out of the Kelly house and into rented quarters where they
build an office and a shop.
1996 through the present: We change the
name of the Company from G.T. Kelly, Inc. to reflecting our desires
to diminish the “Kelly” quotient
(the company now consists of other able personnel not named
Kelly) and to speak to the good feelings of "the Beatles
generation" we belong to. We are currently
proceeding with plans for a new shop/office building for
our own use. During
this period, Jerry Kelly takes college courses in the operation
of AUTOCAD and is also schooled in the use of various
3-D graphics programs. After years of development,
we now have
an impressive design department.
Over the last few years, we have become certified in residential
remodeling through the National Association of Home Builders
(one of only seven companies in Massachusetts) and we have
become members of the Remodelers Executive Roundtables,
a national think tank of Residential Remodeling Companies
focused on better serving the needs of the customer.
In
short, we are very much concerned about professionalism
and for you that means a clean work place, on-time and
on-budget performance, respectful, uniformed, skilled tradesmen,
and a pleasant remodeling experience in general.
